Command reference
The commands needed for everyday CLI, assistant connection and job-review workflows.
Account and capabilities
netconverter --version
netconverter login --clerk
netconverter whoami
netconverter capabilities
netconverter login --clerk signs you in with your NetConverter account in the browser; login --clerk --device does it on a headless machine. netconverter login without --clerk stores an API key (nck_…) at a hidden prompt. Check the credential source before interpreting a missing capability; what each credential can do.
Jobs
netconverter validate demo-asa.cfg --vendor cisco_asa
netconverter convert demo-asa.cfg --vendor cisco_asa --to palo_alto_xml
netconverter optimize demo-asa.cfg --vendor cisco_asa
netconverter jobs
netconverter resume JOB_ID
Each job command submits work; permissions and limits apply. Replace example file names and job IDs with your own. Use only advertised source/target paths. Add --json for machine-readable results and --all to list all findings where supported.
Interactive app
Run netconverter in your workspace. Common actions are /convert, /validate, /optimize, /jobs, /resume JOB_ID, /activity and /help. Use the arrow keys and Enter for choices, Esc to close an open question, and Ctrl+Q to quit.
Assistant connections
netconverter connect
netconverter connect openclaw --print
netconverter connect openclaw
netconverter connect openclaw --remove
Other client keys are listed in Choose your assistant. A local MCP server is normally started by the assistant, not by a second interactive terminal.
Guided migration from an assistant
With the bridge, ask your assistant to prescan a file: submit_file with job_type prescan stops at a psc_ job; the assistant then reads the decisions (list_operations, get_decision_document, validate_decision_document), records your choices (propose_operations) and, with your OK, queues the conversion (submit_conversion). It needs the folder at exposure level full and the write tools enabled for your tenant:
netconverter privacy level full # type the confirmation phrase
netconverter connect codex # or claude-code, cursor, … ; restart the assistant
Step by step: guided migration.
Privacy
netconverter privacy status
netconverter privacy level masked
netconverter privacy apply --client openclaw
For OpenClaw, privacy apply prints policy instructions. Exposure changes and independent assistant file restrictions have different effects; read privacy and data flow.
Update and remove
netconverter update --check
netconverter update
netconverter logout --all
uv tool uninstall netconverter-cli
Update checks and updates are separate actions. Uninstalling the package does not delete configurations, reports or workspace history. logout --all removes the saved NetConverter sign-in and key.
Detailed options
The CLI reference lists every command and option with an example; What everything means explains sign-in, privacy levels, assistants and error codes. COMMANDS.md covers YAML v2 decisions, allowed submission options, MCP tools and exit codes. Run netconverter --help and the relevant subcommand’s --help for the installed version.
