What is NetConverter?
NetConverter helps engineers prepare, translate and review supported firewall and network configurations.
Use NetConverter from the hosted platform, from your working folder with the CLI, or through a connected AI assistant. Available operations include conversion, validation and optimization, according to your account and the service’s capabilities.
The parts of the workflow
- You chooseA file, an operation and the supported target.
- NetConverter processesThe hosted service creates the job and its evidence.
- You reviewFindings, generated files and the checks that ran.
The CLI is the client on your computer. The local MCP bridge lets an assistant request supported operations by file path. The hosted MCP connection lets enabled assistants inspect existing jobs and knowledge. The separate Local workspace supports on-site preparation; see its preview page.
Three ways to use the terminal
| Interface | Use it for |
|---|---|
netconverter | A keyboard-driven app for choosing files, submitting work and following jobs. |
netconverter validate, convert, optimize | Explicit one-shot operations. Add --json when you need machine-readable output. |
netconverter mcp | A local bridge started by your AI client. Use netconverter connect to configure it. |
Where the file goes
The local bridge reads the selected file and sends it directly to NetConverter over HTTPS. Default masked mode restricts what results the assistant receives. Broader exposure is a separate user choice. An assistant’s independent file and shell tools have their own access controls. See privacy and data flow.
What to expect
Hosted processing needs a network connection. The CLI is not an offline conversion engine and does not deploy outputs to a device. Downloaded artifacts are hash-checked; a matching hash establishes transfer integrity, not correctness for every target environment.
