Your first validation

Use a synthetic ASA file to learn the submission and review workflow without customer configuration data.

Updated November 2, 2026 · Terminal guides: CLI 0.7.0

Check the available operation

netconverter whoami
netconverter capabilities

This walkthrough requires a credential that offers validate for Cisco ASA. A legacy Terminal Quick pilot key has a different operation set; if validation is not listed, ask your administrator for the appropriate access. Do not infer availability from the example alone.

Get the synthetic example

Download the synthetic ASA example and save it as demo-asa.cfg in a private demo folder, then open a terminal in that folder. The plain-text download contains documentation IP ranges, two interfaces, an ACL and a route, with no credentials.

The fixture contains no NAT rules. A result from it cannot establish NAT conversion coverage or production readiness.

Submit the validation

netconverter validate demo-asa.cfg --vendor cisco_asa

Running this command requests a hosted job and sends the file to NetConverter. Your account’s permissions, limits and allowance apply. To use the interactive app, run netconverter, choose /validate, select the file and vendor, and review the submission.

Inspect the result

  1. Record the returned job ID.
  2. Read the verdict and all relevant findings. A warning or missing check remains part of the result.
  3. Inspect the downloaded reports. The exact files depend on the job type and available artifacts.
  4. If interrupted, use netconverter resume JOB_ID with the actual job ID.

A successful walkthrough: the service accepts the supported request, the job can be followed, and you can inspect its findings. The tutorial does not promise a passing verdict or a fixed completion time.

Ask about the evidence

After connecting an assistant, ask: “For this job, what did the checks verify, what was skipped, and what still needs review?” Use the real job ID. Compare the explanation with the report rather than treating the explanation as a new verdict.

Continue with a supported conversion

Read terminal workflows for conversion settings and result downloads, or connect OpenClaw to the same demo workspace.
